It keeps the heat outdoors and gives you much more cooking surface to allow for faster cooking time.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>8 slices bacon (check label for sugar content)<\/li><li>1 medium onion sliced<\/li><li>1 pound 80\/20 ground beef<\/li><li>\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/li><li>\u00bc teaspoon garlic powder<\/li><li>\u00bc teaspoon black pepper<\/li><li>1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce<\/li><li>8 slices <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/low-carb-breads\/fresh-baked-petite-sliced-rye-bread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LC Rye Bread<\/a><\/strong> or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/low-carb-breads\/low-carb-sourdough-bread-regular-size\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LC Sourdough Bread<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li>8 slices Swiss cheese<\/li><li>Softened butter (for grilling the sandwiches)<\/li><li>Sliced dill pickle chips<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>Sauce (optional):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\u00bd cup mayonnaise (check label for sugar content)<\/li><li>2 Tablespoons no sugar added ketchup<\/li><li>1 Tablespoon grated onion<\/li><li>1 Tablespoon dill relish<\/li><li>1\/8 teaspoon smoked paprika<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Method:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SAUCE:<\/strong> If making the sauce, mix all sauce ingredients into a bowl and set aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Heat a skillet or griddle to medium high and add the bacon. Fry the bacon until nice and crispy on both sides. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel lined plate to drain excess grease.<\/li><li>Let the pan or griddle cool a bit and carefully blot it to remove all but about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease.<\/li><li>Reheat the pan and add the onions and cook until they caramelize and start to turn brown. When they are cooked, remove from the pan and set aside.<\/li><li>In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and then shape into four patties a little larger than the bread slices to allow for shrinkage.<\/li><li>Place the hamburger patties into the skillet or griddle and cook to your desired doneness, flipping once about halfway through. A nice crisp crust on the outside is a bonus burst of flavor!<\/li><li>When they are ready, remove from the pan and place on a plate to rest.<\/li><li>To assemble the patty melts, place a slice of cheese on four of the bread slices. Then stack with caramelized onions, one burger patty, cooked bacon, another slice of cheese and the other slice of bread.<\/li><li>Now that you have all four patty melts assembled, butter both sides of each one and place them in the skillet or griddle. Depending on the size of your pan, you may need to do this in batches. Grill them on both sides until the bread is nicely golden brown and the cheese has melted.<\/li><li>If you need to grill the patty melts in batches, place a baking sheet in a warm oven and carefully transfer from pan to baking sheet to keep warm.<\/li><li>Top with dill pickles and sauce (if using) and enjoy!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>All LC Foods products have full nutritional detail on their labels and website.
