The weight starts falling off and your body is running like a sports car\u2014but what happens if that car stalls? If your weight loss goal is closer than it has ever been, but you hit your very first plateau?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When your weight just won\u2019t budge\u2014what then? Well, then it\u2019s time for a tune-up. There\u2019s no need to panic. Just think long and hard about the foods that you have been eating and pinpoint where you made a wrong turn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everybody is different, but when I am asked for help in these situations, I rattle off the following list of possible culprits:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 35%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1006\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Salad-Dressing-1024x1006.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6400 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Salad-Dressing-1024x1006.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Salad-Dressing-300x295.png 300w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Salad-Dressing-768x754.png 768w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Salad-Dressing.png 1120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<ul><li> Hidden sugars and starches in purchased food, vitamins, and medications.<\/li><li>Hidden sugars and starches in restaurant food if you eat out often.<\/li><li>Sugar alcohols. And many \u201cso-called\u201d low-carb products, especially sugar-free candy and ice cream are made from these corn syrup alternatives like maltitol, sorbitol and most anything ending in -tol that they claim can be subtracted from the total carb count.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In a handful of people, overindulgence in more specific things like dairy, caffeine, alcohol, sugar substitutes, diet sodas, soy flour, low-carb fruit, nuts, tomatoes and onions can slow or halt weight loss, though my family never had a problem with any of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:40% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1006\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Healthy-Foods-1024x1006.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6403 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Healthy-Foods-1024x1006.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Healthy-Foods-300x295.png 300w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Healthy-Foods-768x754.png 768w, https:\/\/www.lowcarbfoods.com\/community\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Stalled-Out-Blog-Post-Healthy-Foods.png 1120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">If you have no idea what\u2019s causing the plateau, the best thing for you to do is to strip your diet down to the bare bones of low-carb &#8211; to all those healthy fresh foods. You may see stalls as your worst enemy, but getting back to basics is never a bad thing. In fact, you may find yourself losing as fast or faster than ever before! When you have your eye on the prize, every little bit counts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes down to those last stubborn pounds standing in your way, calories can catch up with you.
